Drunk Elephant, a skin care brand based in Houston, is conducting a voluntary recall of a small number of lots of its skin cleansers and creams. According to a statement on the company's website, products Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser, Protini Polypeptide Cream, and Lala Retro Whipped Cream, including sample packets of Lala found inside the carton of O-Bloos Rosi Drops were compromised as part of an isolated ingredient mix-up between preservatives and surfactants during production.
The company is urging customers who have affected products to stop using them, noting, "the O-Bloos Rosi Drops product itself is not affected."
Drunk Elephant is one of the more popular skin care brands particularly among tween consumers–ages 10-12–who enjoy making "skin smoothies" and posting recent product purchases on TikTok. According to some experts, a few of the brand's products containing moisturizers and sunscreens are great for young people to use on their skin. And even Drunk Elephant itself lists these few products as safe for kids to use.
According to Drunk Elephant, the three products were impacted due to certain preservatives and other ingredients being added that aren't part of their ingredients list. They identify the affected product lot numbers, describe what each affected lot contains, and the possible adverse affects they can have when used on the skin:

Families who have been using these products or have just begun using them should check the product lot numbers located on the back of the bottle or bottom of the package and take immediate action.
Any products with lot numbers that aren't listed here are safe to use, according to Drunk Elephant.
According to Drunk Elephant, if you have an affected product, you should stop using it and return it to the company. Anyone with an affected product is eligible for a full refund and product replacement.
In order to get a refund and replacement, Drunk Elephant is asking customers to fill out the return form linked in the recall notice (one form per product) or contact their customer relations team at 1-800-604-1795 or [email protected].
If you have experienced an adverse reaction to one of Drunk Elephant's products or have other questions, they say to also contact the customer relations team.
